Bear Lake, Stitches and Fireworks

My little family joined the Perry clan in Bear Lake, UT for the 4th of July week. The weather was great, the water was beautiful and 72 degree perfection. Great company and good food. The trip sucked! What? Yes sucked! Our campsite was covered in cotton! It was awful stuff that got everywhere. Aspen wrecked on a bike the first day and we discovered this beautiful weather came with a need for SPF 70, 50 left her burnt after day 1.
On the 4th of July we set out for a day of boating with friends that came to Bear Lake. The water was gorgeous and we were all having a lot of fun!

We decided to park the boat at the beach and play. Engine off, anchors in and the kids were in the water playing. What we failed to do was keep the kids away from the prop...Chandler was standing at the end of the boat about to climb on a raft when a wave shoved the prop down onto the top of his foot gashing it open. It was horrifying! He was super brave and pretty calm. Mom? Not so much. We quickly wrapped his foot and got him to the nearest clinic. The Dr and the nurse were super sweet and took great care of my lil guy. We thought we saw bone, but it was all fat and he was cleaned up. 11 stitches! Seriously he was so good.
Trying to figure out how it made the cut it did???
Carrying him all around camp after that but we enjoyed the fireworks at the lake. The next day we wrapped his foot in a ziplock bag and he drove a wave runner around the lake, played in the sand and made the most of our last day at camp. Oh and of course we got in a dry RZR ride!

Bear Lake was a bust this time, not the lake itself but the trip. Maybe better luck next year...if we dare attempt this vacation again!
